Dr. David Powlson
1. How did you first come to hear about New Life?
I have known about New Life and supported the work in Kenya for a long time. My wife and I first met the Beckenhams in the 1970s, when Clive was the pastor of our church in Luton. After they left the UK, we stayed in touch, but got more involved in fundraising efforts in 2001. Currently, I am the Chair of the Board of Trustees for New Life Home Trust UK CIO, a registered charity that exists solely to support the work of New Life in Kenya.
2. What made you decide to choose New Life as your beneficiary?
I feel very satisfied when I see volunteers going to Kenya to support the work there. I also really enjoy the times when fundraising goes well. I know the funds will be used well in Kenya and that there is real accountability in where and how they are spent.
3. Since becoming a supporter, how would you describe your relationship with New Life?
A major highlight for me has been seeing the development of the care that New Life is able to provide for children with special needs.
4. Looking forward, what do you hope to achieve through your partnership with New Life?
My hope for New Life is that there would be continue to be good leadership throughout the organization and good, reliable workers to keep the mission and vision of New Life going. Essentially, I hope for quality training and good leadership at every level within New Life.
