Our Groundsmen:

Just in case you think running a baby home is all women's work, we must not let you go any further without meeting the men who also help make our children's lives so much better. They are responsible for the meticulous maintenance of our properties, vehicles, and gardens. But don't be too surprised to find them taking time to give a boy a haircut, or feed a hungry baby, or chase after one of the toddlers in a quick game of 'tag'.

1. How did you come to work at New Life?
In 2012, I was walking door to door looking for a job when I came across the New Life gate. I asked if there was a vacancy and there was! I’ve been working here ever since.

2. What’s your favourite part of working with New Life?
I love taking care of our flower garden. I also enjoy the times when the office needs me to run errands, especially when that means going on the motorbike!

3. What are some highlights from your time at New Life?
Working at New Life is like being part of one big happy family. For instance, the men at the Kilimani home fellowship together twice a week over lunch. We study the Bible together, pray together, and encourage one another to make real and lasting changes in our lives. That is definitely one of the highlights for me.

4. Looking forward, what is your biggest wish for New Life?
I want New Life to continue to grow and to continue helping abandoned babies and children.

1. How did you come to work at New Life?
I came to work at New Life after a former staff member made me aware that there was a vacancy for a groundsman position. I started working standby shifts in 2011, until I was employed on a contracted basis in March 2012.

2. What’s your favourite part of working with New Life?
My favourite part of my job is gardening. I love it when the flowers are well pruned, watered and weeded.

3. What are some highlights from your time at New Life?
I’m always delighted when our donations increase day by day. I’m also thankful for the times when our salaries are increased.

4. Looking forward, what is your biggest wish for New Life?
I want New Life to expand to other parts of the country so that even more baby rescues would be possible.
